Parents and supporters can join the housing communications email list and receive a copy of general communications sent to students. This includes important deadlines and housing news so that you can better support your student and stay updated. Please note that you will occasionally receive communications that target specific student groups and may not apply directly to your student.

Move Out 2024

As we approach the end of the academic year, it's time to help your student start planning for move-out from UC San Diego Housing. Here are some friendly reminders to help make the process as smooth as possible. 

  1. Start Planning Now: Have your student begin organizing and packing their belongings to avoid last-minute stress.
  2. Weekend/Home Trips: If they are heading home on weekends or for Memorial Day, consider taking non-essential items home to lighten the load during move-out.
  3. Move-Out Deadline: Per the housing contract (available here), students must vacate their premises by 6 p.m. on the last day of the contract term (June 15, 2024) or within 24 hours of their last final exam of Spring Quarter, whichever comes first.
  4. Traffic Advisory: Please note that due to Campus Commencement, you should plan for heavy traffic and traffic delays the weekend of June 14th.

New Incoming Students: Housing for 2024-25

Welcome to our new Triton Families! As you and your student prepare for Fall 2024, we have essential resources to help ensure a smooth transition into the on-campus housing experience. in addition, our UC San Diego Parent & Family Program have created a New Family Checklist to help you better support your student as they navigate the new incoming student process. 

While campus housing is optional, please note that to maintain your student's two-year housing guarantee as a new admit, they must reside on campus during their admit year and the subsequent academic year (2025-26). The housing guarantee cannot be deferred to a later date.

Here are actionable tips to ensure eligibility for the two-year housing guarantee:

  1. Confirm your acceptance to UC San Diego via the Applicant Portal by the University's deadline.
  2. Your student must set up their Single Sign-On account and activate their ucsd.edu email. Housing application invitations will only be sent after these steps are completed.
  3. Adhere to all housing deadlines to retain the housing guarantee. Missing a deadline forfeits the guarantee, but students can join the Fall Waitlist, if needed starting on July 9th. 
  4. Encourage your student to check their ucsd.edu email frequently for vital updates and deadlines.
  5. Familiarize yourself with housing processes and policies by reviewing the following websites:

Continuing Students: Housing for 2024-25

The Room Selection is wrapping up! Students who completed the continuing student housing contract can select their preferred Dining Plan, May 1st - May 29th.

  • Students with an assignment at Pepper Canyon East/Matthews, Rita Atkinson Residences or Pepper Canyon West have the option to select the "No Dining Plan" option.
  • Please note that students will be assigned the lowest dining plan available for their housing community if one is not selected by May 13, 2024. Students will have additional opportunities to make changes to their dining plan through August. 

Room Selection Interest List - Fall 2024

Students without a housing guarantee for Fall 2024-25 were offered the opportunity to express their interest in housing for Fall 2024. If your student does not have a guarantee,  they may fall into one of these categories below. We recommend that if they have not communicated their housing plans with you for Fall, you check in with them. 

  • Students on the Fall 2024 Room Interest List that have completed the housing contract processs will be participating in a Room Selection Interest List Self-Select process which begins May 20th - May 29th. Additional details can be found on the Room Selection website. 
  • Students on the Fall 2024 Room Selection Interest List that have not received and offer will be receiving an update on housing availability the week of May 29th. 
  • Students on the Fall 2024 Room Selection Interest List who did not complete the housing process from round one and two of the Room Selection Interest List will be archived and can apply to the Fall Housing Waitlist opening July 9th. 
  • Students who did not apply to the Fall 2024 Room Selection Interest List can apply to the Fall Housing Waitlist opening July 9th. 

Triton Cash

Your student spoke and we listened. Students asked for more dining flexibility in their Dining Plans. Beginning in Fall 2024, Triton Cash is now part of our dining plans! Check out the 60+ Triton Cash vendors that accept Triton Cash both on and off campus. Students can also use their Triton Cash from the dining plan to do their laundry
